Duncan Road follows the White Mountain Hills and Ord River for 429 kilometres through some of the most scenic Kimberley wilderness, stopping at spectacular swimming holes, nature-based camping spots and mighty Lake Argyle - the biggest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere.
It’s a seven-hour drive from Broome, or a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Kununurra on the Great Northern Highway (Savannah Way), to reach the turn-off for Duncan Road at Halls Creek. There are no facilities along the entire route, so you’ll need to stock up on your supplies in Halls Creek.
Before departing, take a moment to visit the spot where the first gold rush began in Western Australia. Known to the locals as Old Halls Creek, the ruins of this early town site still stand today.
